Louder and more aggressive trumpeting noises are used as a warning to predators or intruders on the elephants’ territory. In addition to the characteristic rumbling and trumpeting of elephants, these animals can also make other vocalizations, such as snorts, roars, barks and cries. Perhaps most amazing of all, elephants actually imitate other sounds using their trunks!
